The MergenHub interface — IEC 104 station single-point, measured and counter values with IOA addresses; CP56Time2a time tag.

What is IEC 104?

IEC 60870-5-104 is the TCP/IP transport of the 101 series; it carries telemetry and telecontrol between substations and control centres as ASDUs. The link is managed with StartDT/StopDT, and General Interrogation captures a snapshot of all points.

Where is it used?

Electricity transmission/distribution substations, RTUs and SCADA control centres. Common in grids where time-stamped reporting and centralized command dispatch are standard.

Driver capabilities

Feature coverage

Standard ASDU types are supported together with link management and the command model.

Interrogation

General Interrogation

GI for an integrity snapshot of all monitoring points; group interrogation and counter interrogation.

Commands

Single / double command

Single/double command (C_SC/C_DC), regulating step and setpoint commands (C_SE) — select+execute or direct.

Monitoring

ASDU types

M_SP/M_DP single-double point status, M_ME measurements (normalized/scaled/short-float), M_IT counters.

Time

Time synchronization

Clock synchronization (C_CS) and CP56Time2a time-stamps for event ordering.

Link

StartDT / test frame

StartDT/StopDT lifecycle, test frames (U-format) and k/w flow windows for a resilient session.

Resilience

Reconnection

Automatic reconnection on a dropped link and retry logic on write requests.

Command confirmations are tracked

GuaranteeEvery command is matched against the confirmation (ACT-CON) and termination (ACT-TERM) messages returned by the device. If the device rejects the command, the write is treated as failed and shown to the operator.
