The MergenHub interface — DNP3 outstation Binary/Analog Input and Counter values; control with operate-STATUS verification.

What is DNP3?

DNP3 (IEEE 1815) is a SCADA protocol designed for geographically dispersed RTUs and IEDs, built around event and time-stamped reporting. Integrity polls provide consistency; unsolicited responses deliver event notification.

Where is it used?

Electricity distribution substations, water/wastewater telemetry networks and remote field stations. Preferred where time-stamped event logging and control safety are critical.

Driver capabilities

Feature coverage

Standard DNP3 control and data models are supported together with security and time services.

Control

SBO + Direct Operate

Select-Before-Operate and Direct Operate control; CROB and analog output blocks. The STATUS field of the operate response is verified.

Security

Secure Authentication

DNP3 Secure Authentication for authenticating critical control and configuration requests.

Data model

Data Sets

Data Sets for efficient definition and transfer of related point groups.

Files

File Control

File Control services for file/record transfer on the device.

Continuity

Redundancy

Primary/backup path configuration with automatic failover on interruption.

Time

Time synchronization

Master time synchronization and correct ordering of time-stamped events (SOE).
