The MergenHub interface — live values via S7 DB / merker / input-output addresses; optimized DB and S7comm connection.

What is Siemens S7?

The Siemens S7 family (S7-300/400 and the TIA-generation S7-1200/1500) is the backbone PLC series of automation. MergenHub accesses data blocks (DB), memory bits (M), inputs/outputs (I/Q), timers and counters via the S7comm protocol.

Where is it used?

Water/wastewater treatment lines, energy plants, manufacturing and process automation. The primary path to expose a Siemens PLC fleet to OPC UA and web SCADA.

Driver capabilities

Feature coverage

Classic and TIA-generation S7 controllers are supported with standard memory areas and data types.

CPU

S7-300 / 400 / 1200 / 1500

Classic S7-300/400 and TIA-generation S7-1200/1500 controllers; rack/slot configuration.

Areas

DB · M · I · Q · T · C

Read/write access to data blocks, memory, inputs, outputs, timers and counters.

Data types

BOOL…REAL, STRING

BOOL, BYTE, WORD, DWORD, INT, DINT, REAL and STRING; bit addressing and array members.

Access

Optimized DB

S7-1200/1500 optimized block access alongside classic absolute addressing.

Discovery

Automatic tag generation

Tag discovery from the device and S7 address-format helpers for fast configuration.

Performance

Bulk reads

Efficient reading of many variables in one round-trip and channel-level connection management.

Write verification

GuaranteeThe result of every write request is checked from the PLC response. If the PLC does not accept the write, the value is not treated as updated; the screen reflects the actual device state.
